It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Murdock Ignatius Tomiczek, age 77 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Roderick and Matilda (MacIsaac) Tomiczek.

Murdock worked as a coal miner in Lingan Colliery. He was a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, he enjoyed playing darts, singing, dancing and drinking beer. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was deeply loved by all.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (MacLean), daughters, Anna (David) Broad, Candice Tomiczek (Frankie MacIsaac), granddaughters, Amanda, Stephanie, Brooklyn, Chloe, Ashley, Markayla, Kendra, Riley and Emma, grandsons, Allan and Michael, sisters, Ellen, Polly, Queenie and Shirley and brothers, Gregor, John Michael, Victor and Pat.

Besides his parents, Murdock was predeceased by his son, Roddy, sister,Tilly and brothers, Jimmy, Walter, Bruno, Duddy and Stanley. 

Visitation will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, December 23 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating.  Cremation will follow with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will be held at the Lion's Club in New Waterford immediately following the funeral mass.

He has been called away to do a very important job with the angels and will be dancing in the Stars with many family and friends above. His "Silver Wings" have taken flight leaving us lonely until we meet again.
