John Elliott, age 64, son of the late Catherine (MacIntyre) & Patrick Kennedy joined the angels on Tuesday, January 23rd 2018.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, he passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Health Facility after a battle with ill health.

Elliot was a gentle man who was loved dearly by his friends and family. He was employed with Canada Post for 30 years and his customers became lifelong friends due to their daily chats.

Elliot is survived by his loving wife, Patsy (Kelloway) Kennedy, daughter, Nadara and granddaughter, Anastasia, brother, Jimmy, sisters, Donna (Butch), Elaine (Bill), Joan (Bill), Kathy (Mike), Maureen (Hoppy), Colleen (Gerard), Aunt Hilda, in laws, Shirley (late Ivan), Harvey (Monica),Orville (Teresa), Branford and Diane Kennedy. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

After his retirement his granddaughter Stacey became the sparkle in his eye and light of his life. He enjoyed reliving, “The Joy” he experienced raising his only child, Nadara. They experienced traditional activities like playing games, constructing snow forts and just spending quality time with his girls. Elliott was an animal lover; particularly to his beautiful cats who were a part of his family.

He was an avid Montreal Canadiens and Blue Jays Fan. Music took him down memory lane which enhanced his life. He enjoyed spending time in his yard and tending to his tulips and putting new editions in the garden.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Pat (late Karen), beloved Uncle Norman, in-laws, Annie and Orville Kelloway, brother-in-law, Ivan and nephew, Craig.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the foyer. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Glace Bay Hospital for their care and compassion.
