It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the passing of Elmer Joseph Madden, age 84, who finally succumbed to his battle with cancer on February 16, 2018 in New Waterford Consolidated Hospital with his family by his side.

Elmer will always be remembered for his selfless dedication to his family that he exhibited throughout his life. He will also be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, and good nature.

He later took up welding and worked at that trade until retirement.

Elmer leaves behind his daughter, Shauna Madden (Reggie); and son, Todd Madden. Elmer is also survived by his brother, Michael (Gloria) Madden, and his sisters, Verna (Howard) MacLean, Lyla Guymard, Ellie Lethbridge, and Yvonne Stauffer, and also, many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Murphy); his sisters: Patricia Brown, Agatha (Billy) Matheson and Joan Madden.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 1p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. , all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating.
