It is with great sadness that we the family, regretfully announce the passing of Vincent James Turner, at the age of 78 years. Vince passed away with his loving family by his side on Saturday, June 11th, 2016, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Turner and was a member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay. Vince worked for Devco for 26 years, retiring in 1992. Vince was a very devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest joys in life were times spent with his family; he was a true family man. He was a very kind and compassionate man, whose favorite thing to do was to make people laugh with his jokes and storytelling. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 51 years Dorothy M. (Yates) Turner; his girls, Marie (John) David, Angela (Brian) MacDonald, Donna (Jim) Southwell; his grandchildren Jonathan, Lyndsey, Stephanie, Mandy, Jenna, and Tyler; his great grandchildren; Kayla, Jayson, and Jacob; as well as a very special part of his life, his dog, Tessa. He will also be sadly missed by his sister Kathleen (Tim) Donovan; his brother Stephen, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother Alfred; sister Mary Thiel; father in law and mother in law, Jim and Nellie Yates; and his buddies Ivan Warren and Harold MacDonald. As per Vince's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. At this time we would like to give a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses in ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the VON and Palliative Care.
