Obituary of Francis A. McCormick

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Frank McCormick, age 89 of the Hub, Glace Bay as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Frank passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Q.E. 2 Hospital, Halifax with his family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Rose) McCormick. Frank worked for several years at Imperial Leaf Tobacco Company, Aylmer, Ontario. He was a devoted member of the Hub Club. Frank also enjoyed watching hockey and playing cards. Frank is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Vaughan, London, Ontario, two sisters, Bernadette ‘Burnette’ MacDonald, Glace Bay, Delores Shaw, Alberta, one brother, Austin McCormick, Glace Bay, grandchild, Alicia Vaughan, London, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by a brother, Joseph, sister in law, Mary McCormick, brother in law, Jim MacDonald, great nephew, Dwayne and a niece, Gloria Pyke. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Glace Bay. Fr. Leo Boone officiating.
