Jack Tutty, Glace Bay

Obituary of Jack Tutty, Glace Bay

John “Jack” Tutty

Glace Bay

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John (Jack) Tutty, age 70 on Wednesday, November 21st, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Glace Bay on October 26, 1948 to the late John Tutty and Alice Adshade.  Jack was a “Caledonia” boy who lived in Glace Bay most of his life

Jack is best remembered as a sociable, compassionate, hard-working family man.  His love of his family was foremost.

Jack was a linesman with Nova Scotia Power for over 35 years.  He was very much an individual of habit. While in Glace Bay, he would do the loop (Donkin / Morien) ending at Dr. Khalifa’s for morning tea.  Jack loved to travel and enjoyed any social event, where he would literally become the life of the party.

Jack loved the outdoors, particularly fishing in the Margaree. We would joke he knew every salmon by name, due to catch and release.

Jack was a past member of the Glace Bay Kinsman, K-40, Masons and Shriners.  He was a member of Newsom United Church, Glace Bay.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Brianna Tutty, Sydney and sister, Brenda Tutty-Wheelhouse (James), Albert Bridge.

Also surviving are his brothers in-law, Bill (Daria) Johnston, Ken Johnston, Read (Linda) Johnston, all of Glace Bay, nieces and nephews Jonathon, Michelle, Tanya and Andrew, honorary father/brother Dr. Momin Khalifa.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his mother and father in-law Neila and Harold Johnston, his wife Judy (Johnston) Tutty and nephew Kyle Johnston.

Special thanks to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital E.R., QE II neurology unit and Glace Bay Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St, Glace Bay.

The funeral service, officiated by Nancy Whitney Latham, D.L.M. will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Newsom United Church followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
