Obituary of Ethel Campbell, Dominion

Ethel Kathleen Campbell

Dominion

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our mother, Ethel Campbell, age 100 on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay. She was a former resident of Mitchell Avenue, Dominion.

Born on August 22nd, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Prescott and Vera (Barry) Joudrey. Ethel was born on Herman’s Island, N.S. and the family later moved to Chester Basin where they operated a boarding house.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She later moved to Dominion with her husband, Roy and made their home on Mitchell Avenue. Ethel was devoted to her church, Chalmers United and later Warden United Church. She was a long time member of the U.C.W. where she made many lasting relationships.

Mother was a gentle lady, a true friend who found pleasure in the simple things in life, such as her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking, baking, her daily walks on Dominion Boardwalk and going for Sunday drives with her husband Roy around the Island.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Late Larry) Coulthard, Manitoba and her son, Barrie (Valerie) Campbell, Dominion. Ethel was grandmother to Dale Coulthard, Scott Campbell and Kelley (Chris) MacLellan, great grandmother to Danika, Kaitlyn, Carter and Cole.

Ethel will be sadly missed by her special friends, Anna MacDonald, Johanna Nearing, Keith, Helen, Elisa and Alanna Jenkins, Joanne Centa and Eileen Muise.

Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her husband Roy, sisters, Evelyn, Pauline and brother, Gerald.

Sincere thanks to the staff of Seaview Manor for all the care and compassion shown to Ethel. Also thank you to Dr. Ley, her doctor for many years, to V.J. McGillivray staff for their help, support and professionalism.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 10th from 6-9 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Tuesday at 11 a.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Rev. Alison Etter officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
