Obituary of Walter Joseph "Diddy" McNeil, Reserve Mines

Walter Joseph "Diddy" McNeil, age 82 of Reserve Mines passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at home. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Jack and Effie (Steele) McNeil.

Diddy was a shy and quiet man who loved golf; either as a caddy or a player. He spent many a day at Lingan Golf Club. He was well known and respected and was a very compassionate man. He loved children, picking berries and going to his church, St. Joseph's, Reserve Mines.

Diddy is survived by three sisters, Catherine Bund, Mildred Honch, Maurina O'Brien, several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Diddy was predeceased by three brothers, Cyril, Joseph, John and a sister, Helen.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation is Monday evening, May 20th from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Dan Boudreau is Tuesday at 11 am in St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines followed by interment in the parish cemetery and then a reception in the church hall.
