Obituary of Mary Dionysia Mullins, Reserve Mines

We the family of Mary “Nisha” Mullins, regret to announce the passing of our beautiful momma on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Mom, age 85 was the daughter of the late Angus P. and Catherine MacNeil. Loved by all who knew her, mom loved to sing and dance, especially to Charlie Pride. She loved a good dirty joke, swear words, and a drink of beer. You never knew what she was going to do or say next. Mom also loved to play cards and bake. Bingo was another love, before her illness and eyesight stopped her from being able to attend. She made the best date squares and fudge, however, she will always be remembered for her incredible homemade bread. Mom leaves behind her family. She is survived by her daughters, Miriam, Bessie (Kenny), Pauline (Derrick), and sons, Lonzo (Kim), Richard (Gloria) and Pike (Tara). Mom also fostered many other children in her younger years. She leaves behind as well two sisters, Josephine Butts and Bernadette Aucoin. Also there are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nephews and nieces, including Tossie who always loved Mom dearly. An animal lover, Mom loved her fur babies Kitty, Coco, and Daisy. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Duckie Mullins, a baby girl in infancy Mary, her sisters, Mary Catherine, Annie Florence, Mella, her brothers, Reggie, Willie, Johnny Angus, Ronnie, Freddie, and a special son-in-law, Keith Pyke. The family would like to thank the staff at the Glace Bay General Hospital and Palliative Care for the amazing care and compassion shown to not just our beloved mother, but to the entire family. Special thanks go out to VON, her homecare staff, the Cancer Centre, and all the doctors who cared for her along the way. To Dr. O’Brien: you were her go-to, she trusted you, and she loved you dearly. As per Mom’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place with a private burial scheduled at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Crossing. Mom, please know you are so very loved and missed by not just your family but all who knew you. You will never be forgotten. We all love you. And Mom, we will be “runnin’ da’ roads” again someday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Cape Breton SPCA.
