Obituary of Mercedes Curtis, Reserve Mines

It is with overwhelming sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mercedes Mary Curtis, who peacefully passed away on March 20th, 2021 after her battle with cancer at the age of 83. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late William and Christine (Sutton) Pennell. Mercedes is leaving behind her husband, Francis Curtis, married 62+ years, her son, Donald, her daughters, Christine, Francetta (Pat), Connie, Roxanne (Joseph) and Audrey. Also surviving are her brothers, Ray and Francie (Gladys), 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews and a lot of friends that she made made a huge impact on. She touched and enriched everyone's lives. She was loved by so many people including Patsy Curtis and Linda Currie which were her closest friends. Mercedes we will be terribly missed by everyone. She was a wonderful and kind hearted person. Due to Covid 19, a funeral service will not be held, but rather a celebration of life will take place in the near future to celebrate our mom’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mercedes may be made to Palliative Care at the CBRH, Sydney or the Alzheimer’s Association.
