Obituary of Rosemary "Rose" Pyke, Glace Bay

We, the family, sadly announce on Thursday, September 23, 2021, God called his angel Rosemary, age 55 back home. She passed away at her residence in Glace Bay, surrounded by her family after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. In Rosemary's younger years she volunteered as a kindergarten teacher. Later she enjoyed a career at Stream. She was an avid reader, music and animal enthusiast, a collector of angels and she loved going for long drives with Joey. She is survived by her partner, Joey Miles, mother, Frances (Pyke) Brown, sister, Saundra (Jerry) Brown and sister of her heart, Maria (Gord) Quigley. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mandy Rose Walker, grandparents, Roy and Mary Pyke, Bernard and Effie Brown as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Joey and family are grateful for all the family and friends that helped in so many ways during her time of need. You all meant so much to Rosemary. Cremation has taken place. Goodbyes may be made on Tuesday, September 28th between 10:00 and 11:00 am with services to follow, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve, Glace Bay. Internment to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery. Fr. Duaine Devereaux presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, The SPCA, The Ronald McDonald House, The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
