I wish to extend my condolence to Karen’s family, especially her 3 daughters and her grandchildren and also her sister Elizabeth. I trained in St. Joseph’s with Karen. I was away at the time of her passing and read of it when I returned. Please know you are in my thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Karen. Karen and Bill were neighbours and friends of the family who were generous with their time. Her focus was the kids, involved in the community, and helped others during difficult times. I have fond memories from when I was young of my Mom and Karen having long conversations and laughing while drinking tea around the table.
All my love to the family,
Margaret Coombes

In August 1950 Karen and I first met, she was eight and I had just turned nine. It was the beginning of a life long close friendship that was to continue for the next seventy two years. We attended elementary, junior high and high school together. We shared the same wicked sense of humor, love of both my motorcycles and sports car. We were good kids, respected our parents, did not smoke or drink or do drugs. Gradually by the mid sixties our careers and personal lives meant we saw less of each other but managed to maintain some contact over the years. She and my wife Georgie (also an RN) became great friends on meeting each other and we are deeply saddened by her passing. Rest in peace my best friend.

I went to school with Karen, and church at St. Mary’s. She married my brother and gave him beautiful girls. Although I lived in Ontario I tried to keep in touch and was grateful for the wonderful family life they experienced. She will be missed.
Sincerely, Hildegarde Lawson
