Obituary of Thomas William Hulme, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas “Tommy” William Hulme, age 67 of New Waterford on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 at his residence.

Born in New Waterford and raised on Roaches Road, he was the beloved husband of Anne (McKay) Hulme and loving father of Jenna Hulme (Jeff), Thomas Hulme (Lisa), Alexandra Taylor (Steve) and Samantha Taylor “The Baby”.

He was an amazing poppy to a great group of grandsons, whom he adored, Lucas, Roman, Hunter (Jenna), Brayden (Thomas), Declan and Eric (A.J.)

Tommy was predeceased by his parents, Mark and Minnie (Gadd) Hulme and his sister, Angel.

He is survived by sisters, Donna (Robert), Gail, brothers, Charlie (Bev) and Bradley (Cathy).

Tommy was also dearly loved by his nieces and nephew, Jason and Tanya (Milley), Amie McMaster and Crystal Hulme and Sean Briand.

Thomas will be remembered by his big sense of humour, infectious laugh and love for life, he was known by many and could be seen waiving and saying hello to almost everyone he passed. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and his trips away to the mainland. Most of all, Thomas enjoyed being surrounded by his family, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed spending time with close friends and his rival crib games with Carol Lee Taylor (Gary).

Tommy was well known for his love of carpentry skills and his ability to do just about anything he put his hand to, he was always there to lend a helping hand.

He was employed with Stott Aluminum, Bras d’Or Window and Modern Aluminum, not to mention the many jobs he did on his own.

Many lives were shattered the day god called you home, you were loved by so many and our lives will never be the same without you in it. You will be forever in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12th, 2024 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm followed by a reception, all taking place in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Interment in Union Grove Cemetery at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy for Tommy, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the N.S. Heart Foundation or your local S.P.C.A.

" It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.

A part of us went with you, the day God took you home.

If tears could build a stairway, and heartaches make a lane,

we would walk our way to heaven, and bring you back again.

In life we loved you dearly,

in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill."
