Joe MacKinnon, age 68 of Glace Bay, passed away on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with his family by his side.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Steven & Elizabeth (McGillivray) MacKinnon.

In his younger years, Joe was employed at the fish plant in Glace Bay. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving his ATV and spending time with his friends. Joe had a great sense of humor and was always there to lend a helping hand for those in need.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna MacKinnon, longtime companion, Patricia Murphy, his sister, Slyvia Harris (Elmer), three nieces and three nephews.

Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by a brother, John “Jackie” MacKinnon and his special aunt, Annie Mae McGillivray.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery at a later date.
