Jean Chiasson, age 91, of New Waterford passed away peacefully at home on Friday December 27, 2024.

Born in New Waterford, Jean was the daughter of the late Rannie S. and Mary Louise (Leforte) MacDonald.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Donna and sons, Ray (Paula), Tim (Brenda), Bernie (Lisa) and Paul; grandchildren, Michael, Deborah, Tim Jr. , Brett, Brittany, Leigha, Josh and Cassie; great-grandchildren Lyla, Dahlia, Thatcher, Ellie, Sterling and Emme; her sisters Shirley (Joe) O`Quinn, Ceanne (David) Hall; brothers, Danny (Joan) MacDonald and Albert (Linda) MacDonald.

Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Bernie Chiasson; brothers Neil, Paddy, Louie and her sister Bernadette Heinecamp.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A graveside service will be held on on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 2 p.m. in Mount Carmel Cemetery with father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow at the K.O.C. Hall in New Waterford.

Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Pediatric Ward, the IWK or to a charity of your choice.
