Obituary of Jean Doreen Fahey, Scotchtown
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Jean Doreen Fahey.
Jean, 73, of Scotchtown, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Feb. 4, 2025.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Louie and Florence (MacInnis) Varrence.
Jean is survived by her children, Debbie (Dave), Frankie (Jenn), and Jenni; grandchildren, Jessie (Amar), Devon (Kelsey), Elliot, Jack and Haley; great-granddaughter, Carley Jessie.
Jean was a selfless woman who would do anything to help anyone who crossed her path. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved nothing more than spending time with them and giving them everything she ever had. She will be missed by so many friends and family.
Also surviving are sisters, Gail and Wendy; nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
Besides her parents, Jean was also predeceased by her sister, Celia; brothers Joe and Duncan; former husband and forever friend, Frankie Fahey and partner, Graham Hall.
Gratitude and a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers and best friends, who never left her side during her illness, Gail Varrence and Sandy McIssac. Also, thank you to her niece, Kelly Varrence and longtime friend, Bernadette McNeil for all your help and support. Also to the Palliative Care team, VON, and all healthcare workers who helped with mom's care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Jim Oliver officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
