Obituary of Charles "Charlie" Daniel Boudreau, Dominion
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, and best friend, Charlie Boudreau, 83, of Dominion, NS. He was surrounded by his loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, where he lost his final battle.
Charlie was born in Glace Bay, NS on March 20th, 1941, to the late Danny and Vange Boudreau.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Kay (Bishop), of 58 years, his 4 children, Danielle (Wayne) MacLellan, Rochelle (Gary) Hickey, Daryll (Kathleen Mullins), Mary Beth (Jeff) Livingston, his grandchildren, Rhiannon (Noah), Skylar, Jeremy, Sheri, Yvonne (Paul), Melissa, Derek, Kieran, and several great grandchildren.
Charlie is also survived by his siblings, Evangeline Deruelle, Harvey (Claire) Boudreau, Arlene Boudreau, Paula (Basil) MacDonald, Adele (Frank) Bates, sisters in law, San Boudreau, Theresa Bishop, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his precious son Buddy, his two brothers Greg and Les Boudreau, his best friends, John Neil Turnbull and Billy Gilfoy.
Charlie worked for 34 years at the DEVCO machine shop as a machinist. In his early years, he enjoyed playing baseball, darts, and coaching little league baseball. Speaking of baseball, he was a huge Blue Jays fan, and his favourite time of year was when spring training started.
Dad dedicated his life to his wife and children, especially our dear brother Buddy. He enjoyed the little things in life, like going for a drive, listening to Blue Rodeo, watching his grandchildren play sports, and getting mom her chip wagon fries. Charlie was a very kind man, and often helped out people in need anonymously. We will remember him for his dry humour, and his honesty. If you asked for his opinion, he would give it to you, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. We, the Boudreau family would like to extend sincere thanks to the paramedics, staff of the CCU, especially family friend, David Wilson, and his family Doctor, Dr. Lange.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2025, from 6-9 pm in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11th, at 11 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Dan Boudreau presiding. Reception to follow at the Dominion Fire Hall.
In memory of Charlie, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Down Syndrome Society. On line condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
