Obituary of Marie (Dornig) Barry, River Ryan
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Marie Barry. Ma passed away quickly and peacefully at the age of 90 surrounded by her family.
She grew up in New Waterford and was predeceased by many family members including her husband, Maynard; parents, Helen and Stanley Dornig; her brothers, Clifford, Russie, Raymond and Stanley and sisters, Jeanette and Evelyn. Ma’s biggest loss in her life was the passing of our brother, Gray. She always said that we shouldn’t be sad when she died because she would be happy to be with him again.
Ma is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Wayne, Glenn (Cassilda), Lynn (Gerard), Rhonda (Rob), Marie (Duncan), Gail (Bradley) and Darryl (Kristal). She will also be greatly missed by her sister, Helen (Dale); sister-in-law, Linda; daughter-in-law, AnneMarie and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Ma was a member of St Michael’s parish and was a member of various clubs over the years such as the IODE and her exercise group. Most of ma’s time was spent looking after all of us. She was the heart of our family, nurturing us through the joys and challenges of life. She took immense pride in the smallest of our accomplishments taking every chance to brag about what we were doing. There is no love like a mother’s love and we felt that from ma every day of our lives.
Ma leaves behind a profound impact on those who were lucky enough to know her, and she will be dearly missed.
Rest in peace, Ma. You may be gone, but the love you gave will remain with us always.
We would like to thank County homemakers for all their care and kindness. Also Dr. Ajuwon, Dr. Lange and the staff of the second floor at the New Waterford Hospital for their compassion.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
