Obituary of Savina Agnes (Bresolin) MacNeil, New Waterford

Mrs. Savina Agnes (Bresolin) MacNeil, age 97, a former resident of Arthur Street (14 Yard), New Waterford passed away on Thursday, March 20^th, 2025 at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney with her loving family by her side.

Born in New Waterford, Savina was the daughter of the late Alfonso & Maria (Pozzebon) Bresolin.

Savina was a member of the former Mt. Carmel Church, New Waterford. She belonged to the K.O.C. Ladies Auxiliary and Aging Gracefully Group.

Savina was an easy-going lady, always on the go and full of energy, she was a superb cook and loved to bake, especially apple pies. Ma was very compassionate, but stern when needed. She loved her grand and great grandchildren dearly.

Savina and her husband, Jeff were beautiful dancers and they are now on the dance floor in heaven, reunited again, as Ma would say, “Home Sweet Home.”  Savina was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Johnny) MacDonald, Judy (Russell) Burchell, two sons, Greg (Geraldine), Daniel (Ann Louise) MacNeil, five grandchildren, Derek (Bindu), Paul (Becky), Tanya Michelle (Rob), Gregory, Jeffrey (Sabrina), twelve great grandchildren, Jaya, Nadia, Duncan, Elliot, Mallory, Morgan, Rory, Daniel, Savina Pearl, Niall, Holden, Nole and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Savina was predeceased by her husband, Jeff MacNeil in 2005, one sister, Genny, four brothers, Leno, Louie, two brothers in infancy and a granddaughter, Joanne.

 A special thank you to the Creative Care Unit at the Cove Guest Home for the care and love shown to our mother.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 26^th, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a reception to follow at the K.O.C., Plummer Avenue, New Waterford. 

As an expression of Sympathy for Savina, memorial donations may be made to the Cove Guest Home, Sydney or a charity of one’s choice.
