Obituary of Lawrence Vincent MacEachern, New Waterford

We, the family of Lawrence Vincent MacEachern, age 75, announce his sudden passing on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in New Waterford on July 19, 1949, he was the son of the late Arnold and Gloria (MacLean) MacEachern.

He was a coal miner, a loyal life-long Toronto Maple Leaf fan, an avid fisherman and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Sheila (Pembroke); son, Curtis (Lorraine); granddaughters, Eleanor and Vianne; brother, Kevin.

Also survived by in-laws, Patrick (Helen), Judy (Don), Peter (Jackie), Bernie, Colleen (Edmund), Lilly (Michael), Anna (David), Rose (Michael), Paul (Tracey), Ryan (Sandra) and many nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was predeceased by brothers, Bernard, James, Brian, and sisters, Gertrude and Jean.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, where visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 from noon until service time at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
