Our sincere condolences on the death of Russell. We have many fond memories. We were at St. F.x, Nova Scotia Tech together and both were rewarde with the athloone Fellowship in 1957. Annabel and I had Christmas dinner with Russ and Anne in Liverpool in 1958. Annabel was performing in a Pantomine there. I was honoured to be the Godfather to Rhonwen in Potsdam., Our family still remembers the wondreful reception we received. I also visited the family in Colorado. We seem to have lost touch in recent years, but have not forgotten our rendevous.

I was privileged to work for and with Dr. Churchill for more than thirty-five years. I never met a man like him. I learned early on that you should never question his memory, because he was, in fact, always right! He had very high professional standards, and he did not give his trust easily. It had to be earned with time and effort and good results. I eventually became part of his inner circle. He was my mentor. He had such an impact on my life. He gave unselfishly of his time in the evenings and on weekends and holidays to tutor me in graduate school, and all he ever asked was for me to purchase an extra textbook for him. In the first class, I gave him his textbook on Friday evening. By Monday morning, he had read the entire book, and could answer any questions, give explanations and most of the time give the page number for reference. He was oblivious to the fact that he was gifted with this amazing mental capacity that the rest of us did not possess. He changed the trajectory of my career and challenged me to broaden my horizons. You had to constantly enhance and improve your knowledge to stay in the game. He was passionate about his work and he gave most of his time to special projects to help other people, but he could also be funny. Sometimes his humor was over my head and he always had a new riddle that I could never solve. To hear him laugh made a good day. I will miss that. Shine on Dr. C. You are truly one of a kind.
To the family I offer my sincere condolences. You have suffered a tremendous loss, and I wish you peace and strength in the coming days. Prayers to all of you.

To The Churchill Family, near & far, sincere condolences on the passing of such brilliance...I didn't know Dr.Russell Churchill nor had I ever had the pleasure of meeting him, however, I certainly grew up with his neices & nephews on Roaches Road & his brothers Jackie & Alex & I do remember Winston vaguely as a child.. for the family did not live far from our family on the street... We had all heard as we grew older, much older, what a brilliant man Dr.Russell had become and by the obituary.. he lived his roots... Humility comes to mind.. Many blessings to his family,, May he rest in Peace with a job well done "Oh good and faithful servant". Prayers to the Family. Trickie (Young) & Steve Madden
