Rita Brake, New Waterford

Obituary of Rita Brake, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Rita Brake, announce her passing on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at home.

Born in Cheticamp, she was the daughter of the late Alexander "Sandy" and Rose Poirier.

In earlier years, Rita was employed at the GI Plant. She later went on to cook at St. Agnes Convent for several years until her retirement. Her love of cooking was not only evident at work but in her homestead. Her specialties were homemade bread, buns and biscuits. During Rita's retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; daughters, Sheila MacNeil (Gordie) and Traci Brake (Berry); sister, Jeannette Paquette; grandchildren, Brett MacNeil (Cassie) and Kurt MacNeil. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by many siblings.

A special thank you to Billie and Jacqueline Brake for their kindness and compassion to Rita over the years.
