Obituary of Margaret Mary (Blondie) Pozzebon, New Waterford

We, the family of Mary Margaret "Blondie" (McCann) Pozzebon, regret to announce her passing on June 8, 2025 at Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford, at the age of 98.

Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Janie (MacDonald) McCann.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Patricia), Gardiner Mines, and Ernesto (Cindy), New Waterford; grandchildren, Mark, Chris (Rebecca), of Gardiner Mines, Jennifer (Trevor McKelvie), Nine Mile River, Jasmine Pozzebon (Michael Leudy), Cole Harbour, Giovanni (Katie), Alberta, and Carmen, at home; great-grandchildren, Emily MacDonald, Gavin and Jacey Lynn Pozzebon, Casey and Carson McKelvie, Lily and Jax Leudy and Delilah Pozzebon and Jaxon.

She is also survived by her sister, Sadie Holloway; nephew, Melvin (Anna) Cormier, who was like a son; several other cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Caridi, on Jan. 8, 2009; son, Vernon, in infancy; sisters, Anna Jane MacAulay and Catherine (Cupie) Schima.

Blondie was an excellent baker and cook and that showed in her early married years where she and Caridi ran Dagwoods Restaurant. In later years, they had a bake shop and pool hall on the other side of Plummer Avenue. She was also a very talented seamstress; making lots of outfits and grad gowns. Her home surroundings were well cared for.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Godwin Obike officiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home with burial to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. 

The family would like to thank New Waterford Homemakers staff, New Waterford Hospital 2nd floor staff and the Maple Hill Manor staff for the great care they provided.
