Obituary of John Wilfred (Fred) MacEachern, New Waterford

It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Fred MacEachern on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at New Waterford Hospital.

Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary (Butts) MacEachern.

Fred left home at an early age journeying to Ontario where he trained as a Chef. He returned home where he started his 45 year career as a Chef at the Isle Royal Hotel. Over these years, he worked at various locations and ended his career at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.

Fred is survived by his daughters, Wendy MacEachern (Jonathan), Michelle (Kim) Hashem and Violet; grandchildren, Rebecca and Marcus; brother, Dan; sister, Linda MacPhee (Gerard - deceased) along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by a brother, Raymond; sisters, Annabell and Helen.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 19 from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Godwin Obike officiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford.
