With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hadley Steven Jennex Sr., age 69, on July 17, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Hadley passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of strength, determination, and love.

Born and raised in New Victoria, Nova Scotia, Hadley was a man of many talents and endless grit. He felt most at home in the outdoors—fishing on the water, hunting in the woods, or tending to his garden. If something was broken, Hadley could fix it. His hands were as skilled as they were strong, and there was little he wouldn’t try to repair, build, or improve.

Hadley was known for his fierce independence, sharp wit, and unwavering determination. He faced life head-on and never backed down from a challenge. Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength, generous heart, and deep love for nature.

Hadley was predeceased by his daughter Holly Dawn, his parents Sarah Eldora and Hadley George, his sisters Ruth, Georgina, and Carolyn, and an infant brother.

He is survived by his sons, Hadley Stephen (Lindsey), Richard (Melanie), and Hadley James (Candace); who cared for him with deep love and unwavering devotion, and his daughter Krista (Mark). He was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Alex, Logan, Emalee, Kearah, Ethan, Leland, and Acelynn.

He is also survived by his brothers Gerald (Gertrude) and Richard (Patsy), and sisters Betty and Alice, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Keating and the nursing staff on 4A for their exceptional care and compassion. 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25 from 12 (noon) until the time of the service at 1 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Deacon Lorne MacNeil presiding.
