We regret to announce the passing of Mary Delores Roach, age 89, on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025 at Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late John and Kay Neville.
In her early years, Delores worked at Hinchey's and Gordon's Grocers in New Waterford. She loved crafting and spending time with her family. Delores and her husband, Jimmy, would venture out nightly to visit family and friends. She was very religious and had strong faith. Delores was a member of Mount Carmel Parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard.
Surviving are daughters, Darlene (Art) O'Keefe, Johanna (Greg) McNeil; sons, Richard (Natalie), Terrence (Eleanor), and Blair (Cherie); brother, Jimmy Neville; sisters, Joannie DeGiobbi and Agnes Neville; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John James (Jimmy); daughters, Debbie and Janice MacDonald; son-in-law, Joe MacDonald; brother, Joe Neville and sister, Marie Aucoin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept.1st from noon until 2 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Cremation will follow. A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place Tuesday, Sept. 2nd at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
