It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Esther Ann McMaster, age 86, at New Waterford Hospital on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.

Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late John James and Bridget (McEachern) McMaster.

Esther thoroughly enjoyed playing cards; Tarabish, Crib, 45s, and Uker, to name a few. She was known to her friends and family as Mrs. 50. Esther also loved listening to country music.

She is survived by her son, Jason Fraser; sisters, Marilyn LeDrew and Rachel Storey; grandchildren, Kaileeann, Trevor, Michael and Craig; great-grandchildren, Shaelyn and Lyla Jai; son-in-law, Randy Duprey; niece, Susie, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by daughter, Deborah Ann Dupre; son, George James Fraser; brothers, John Jr., Peter (Pepi), Daniel, Carl; sisters, Catherine (Cassie), Christina (Tina), Loretta (Lollie), Theresa in infancy, Emeline (Emmy), Gertrude (Gertie) and Sheila.

Special thanks to the nursing staff on 2nd floor of New Waterford Hospital for their compassion and professional care given to Esther.

Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Esther's life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
