Lisa Ann MacNeil, New Waterford Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lisa Ann MacNeil, age 58, of New Waterford, Nova Scotia, on September 22, 2025.

Born on April 7, 1967, in Windsor, Ontario, Lisa was a beloved mother, nana, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind her two daughters, Jennifer (Patrick) and Jessica (Justin), who were the pride and joy of her life. The girls cherished Christmas with their mom, who transformed the season into something truly magical. Lisa decked the halls with unmatched joy and creativity, creating unforgettable holiday memories for Jennifer and Jessica. She was immensely proud of her daughters and found deep fulfillment in watching them grow and succeed in life. Her absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.

Lisa is also lovingly remembered by her husband and lifelong friend, Billy. In the many years they spent together, they shared a deep connection, many great memories, raised two beautiful daughters, and found immense joy in becoming grandparents. Billy and Lisa came alive on the dance floor, often jiving the night away with a joy that was contagious. Watching them dance together was truly a gift to all who were fortunate enough to witness.

Her love and devotion to her grandchildren, Regan and Colter, ran deep; they brought her endless happiness and lit up her world. Lisa cherished every moment with them, spending her time playing, laughing, and being fully present — just as she was with everyone she loved.

Lisa shares an unbreakable bond with all her sisters, whom she loved so dearly. Many cherished times were spent together playing baseball (KFC Belles), darts, crafting, and laughing. Christmases were fondly remembered at their Aunt Ginny’s in Halifax, creating lasting memories together. Throughout their lives, they remained incredibly close, which fostered strong relationships with many nieces and nephews whom Lisa loved deeply.

Lisa was a dedicated employee of the New Waterford Credit Union, where she was more than a colleague, she was family, and they were some of her dearest friends. Her work ethic, warmth, and unwavering compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Many will miss seeing Lisa on her daily walks through New Waterford, her radiant smile, and her signature wave that brought joy to everyone she passed.

Known for her selflessness, Lisa lived her life in service of others. She was a woman of remarkable kindness, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit and positive outlook touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. A hug from Lisa could change your whole day; she was known as the best hugger, offering comfort, warmth, and love in every embrace.

Aside from her husband, two daughters, and grandchildren, Lisa is survived by her six sisters; Marylou (Wayne), Charmaine, Rosemarie, Mary (Mark), Kathy (Joseph), and Shirley (Billy); along with many dear nieces, nephews, and extended family. Lisa will be missed by all her loving friends (too many to name, but you know who you are), especially Karen Bailey, who Lisa would consider her seventh sister. Lisa was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and John, and her parents, John and Louise Roach.

A special thank you to Sherry Stubbert and Tracy Pembroke for being there with love and support when it was needed most.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford on Saturday, September 27th from 11a.m. to 1pm with a service to follow. Father Jim Oliver officiating.
