Marjorie Marie (Marge) MacDougall, New Waterford Obituary

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Marjorie (O'Brien) MacDougall, fondly called Marge by her friends and acquaintances, on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Mom could be seen walking all around town from 12 Hill to Plummer Avenue, going from store to store. Always landing at her favorite pass time spot, BINGO, sitting with her lifetime friends, Carmel and Sherri.

Mom loved to cook, often producing her prize-winning spaghetti and meatballs and fishcakes. We would be remiss if we didn't mention her amazing coconut cream pie. You never left her house hungry; your belly would be full and a doggie bag to go.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, Rita and Blair, who were always there for her in good times and bad, with open arms to support and comfort her.

Mom is survived by her son, Brian (Sharon) and daughters, Arlene (Bruce), Cindy (Frank), Mona (Roger) and Shirley; sixteen grandchildren, Angela, Shelley, Kyle, Shaun, Erin, Tyler, Nicole, Trevor, Melissa, Sheila, Michael, Brandon, Kristen, Mitchell, Justin, Logan and her nineteen great-grandchildren.

Marge is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mom is predeaceased by her parents, Veronica (MacNeil) and Patrick O'Brien; her loving husband, Alphonse (Phonsie), and her children, Kevin, Glen, and Linda.

We would like to thank the Doctors and the amazing nursing staff of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. A special thanks to the nursing staff of the second floor. Your extraordinary care and thoughtfulness given to our mom during her stay there will never be forgotten.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes cemetery with Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, New Waterford. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
