James “Jamie” Frederick Brooks, age 48, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

Born on April 11, 1977, in the same town he called home throughout his life, Jamie's journey was one marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for family and friends.

Jamie was a man of many talents. With training in industrial rigging, truck driving, and carpentry, he was truly a jack of all trades, capable of turning his hand to nearly any task.

Whether it was building something from the ground up or lending a hand on a job site, Jamie’s skills were matched only by his willingness to help others. He had a big heart and never hesitated to step in when someone was in need.

Outside of work, Jamie found joy and freedom riding motorcycles. The open road called to him, and he answered with enthusiasm and passion. He also loved hunting and cherished time spent outdoors.

But above all else, Jamie valued time with his family and friends. His presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering.

Jamie is lovingly remembered by; his daughter Kerstin (Cameron); his son Nathan (Sara); grandson Zayden; his brother Johnathan (Lesley); his nieces, Courtney and Emily, his father Fred (Paulette); and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, godchildren and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother Marion; paternal grandparents, Jeannette and Wilbert Brooks; and maternal grandparents, John and Edna MacVicar.

Those who knew Jamie will remember him as someone who lived life fully, working hard, loving deeply, and always ready with a helping hand or a kind word.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared in his life. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation only on Sunday, December 28th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
