It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Louise Marie Beaton, age 91, on December 19, 2025, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Louise was born and raised in New Waterford to the late Francis and Alvina (Sampson) Ruelland. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Beaton; brothers, Maurice, Francis, George, Joseph as well as her best friend and loving sister, Evangeline.
She will be forever loved and remembered by her sons, James, Melvin (Carrie); brother, Louis Ruelland (Barbara); cherished grandchildren, Amber (Jeff), James (Jenna), and Zachary; and her adored great-grandchildren, Allie, Ayla, Parker, and Dallas. Louise also leaves behind many close nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Louise was a resilient woman whose strength never wavered. She faced life’s challenges and ailments with perseverance, never allowing them to slow her down. Along with her strength, Louise was known for her strong sense of humor and quick wit, always ready with a clever remark and a contagious laugh.
She was a devoted foster parent for several years, opening her home and heart to children in need and leaving a lasting impact on many lives. In her early years, she worked alongside her father as a maid and cleaner, instilling in her a strong work ethic that stayed with her throughout her life.
She truly lived for the simple joys—bingo nights, card games, and the occasional dance with her husband. Louise also had a passion for horse races and never missed the annual Broad Cove Concerts, which she faithfully attended for more than 20 years.
She also enjoyed visits from family and friends throughout the holidays, especially from her buddy, Nicholas, on Halloween.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 at 1 p.m. with Father Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
