We the family of Dorothy “Sis” McLean, age 90 of Glace Bay announce her sudden passing on January 1st, 2026 at the CBRH, Sydney with her loving family by her side.

Born, April 12th, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Alex & Elizabeth (Winstanley) McLean.

Sis was a lifelong resident of the hub. She worked hard throughout her life in many fish processing plants. Sis loved her bingo games and playing darts at the hub club. She also loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays games.

Sis is survived by her son Robert (Joan), daughter, Florence (Dave) and chosen son, Blair (Marlaine), her brother, Albert (Lois) and her sister, Jeannie.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Leonard (Blair), Brian (Miranda), Cheryl (Mark) along with her many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sis will be deeply missed by her good friend, Shirley Shaw.

Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers, Joe, Melvin, Willie, sister, Beatrice and longtime companion, Leonard Croney.

Great praise and admiration go out to the staff of 4E Palliative Care for their compassion and great care of our mother.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A private interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
