Caroline Ann Leudy, New Waterford Obituary

It is with overwhelming sadness that we, the family of Caroline Leudy, announce her passing on Monday January 5, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Caroline fought fiercely against the disease that ultimately stole her from us much too soon. We are so proud of the battle she waged and will forever miss her.

Caroline was born on March 23, 1970 to parents Murdock and Violet “Girlie” (Brown) Gillis. She lived in New Victoria until meeting the love of her life, Oie Leudy, in 1998 and moving into their forever family home in New Waterford. Caroline and Oie loved and raised four beautiful children together. Gillian, Hillary, Ben and Tess were and continue to be their proudest accomplishments until, of course, the birth of grandchildren Leah, Daniel, Jack and Macy.

Caroline began her employment career at Sobey’s at the age of 16. She worked there until deciding to continue her education at Compu-College to become a computer technician. She began working at Alliance Computers in 1998 and stayed there until the company’s closing in 2012. She then changed career and trained at METI to become a Safety Officer in the building and trades field. She went on to work with Sulzer Chemtech in Alberta in 2014. Due to her tremendous work ethic, she climbed the company ladder very quickly to ultimately become a General Foreman.

Caroline is survived by her husband of 25 years, Oie and their four children Gillian (Ryan), Hillary (Josh), Ben (Katya) and Tess (Breighton). Also left to miss her are their grandchildren, Leah, Daniel, Jack and Macy; sister, Murdena (Bob); brothers, Duncan(Jo-Ann), Victor (Gail), Leonard (Rose) and Melvin, and sisters-in-law, Arlene and Ann as well as numerous nieces and nephews will also feel a void in their lives.

Caroline was predeceased by her parents and brother, Francis as well as in-laws, Arnie and Sadie Leudy. She can now be reunited with her beloved family pet, Rusty, and renew their daily, peaceful walks.

Caroline loved most of all spending time with her family. She was a faithful attendee of any sport her children and grandchildren were participating in any time or day of the week, many times going to multiple games a day. She did like her alone time walking the loop with Rusty and searching for sea glass on many local beaches.

Our family would like to offer very sincere thanks to everyone that aided Caroline in her fight over the last year including family physician Dr. Waala Moamer, the Palliative Care unit, Cape Breton Cancer Center and the staff of Unit 3B all of the CBRH. We would also like to thank the Gynaecologic Oncology Team and the staff of Unit 3B at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. A special thank you to Kendra Politte, RN and Nurse Practitioner Arlene Billard at the Cape Breton Cancer Center for their kindness and devotion.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to Teal to Heal at CBRH Foundation.
