Judith Cecilia McMullin “Judy” passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026 at the age of 88 in New Waterford Hospital.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the beloved daughter of the late Alex and Florence (MacIntyre) McMullin and the last remaining member of her cherished family.

Judy leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Gatha MacMullin and Linda McMullin, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four brothers - Gerard, Angus, Alexander (Sandy), and Daryl - her sister Anne, sister-in-law Phyllis, and brother-in-law, Henry.

Judy found great joy in tending to her beautiful garden (which was enjoyed by her neighbors and anyone who visited her home as well). She loved nature and in her youth, she delighted in fishing. Judy’s love for travel was intertwined with her nursing career, which allowed her to fulfill her passion for helping others while exploring the world.

Judy built an extraordinary nursing career which included work at NASA with the Apollo 17 and Skylab teams (a dream job for her adventurous spirit). Her nursing career also saw her working in Houston, California, Maine, Mississauga, and Sydney. When her family required her care, she didn't think twice about coming back home to support her mother and beloved brother Daryl, a selfless act that exemplified her dedication to family. After turning 65, she retired from Addiction Services in Sydney, NS. Judy was a devoted member of Saint Anne’s parish.

In keeping with Judy’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay.                                                                     

The funeral mass will take place on what would have been her 89th birthday - Monday, February 16th, 2026, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Glace Bay at 11:00 a.m. The mass will be followed by lunch in the entrance of the church.
