To All of Popeye's Family,
I was saddened to read of Popeye's passing. I knew him when I was much younger growing up in New Waterford. He was a good friend of my older brother Glenn. Whenever Popeye was around you could be assured of lots of laughs. I hope you all will find comfort and solace in your memories of happier times.
With my deepest sympathy,

My deepest condolences, I just found out the passing of Popeye.
I had the pleasure of knowing Popeye since I believe the 90’s man oh man Popeye can sure put a smile on your face no matter what kind of day you are having , especially if he knew you having a bad day. My wife Phuong ( Vietnam) first met Popeye we were all out I think at Mira in a very hot summer day and Phuong (Fong) just had a blast out of Popeye
She never laughed so much. I new Popeye thru my best friend Bobby Sweeney Jr.
Thank you Popeye for all the good memories you left with all of us .

My Sincere Condolences to Sharon and the family. When I moved back home after 40 years and went to the post office for the first time this guy got out of his truck and I heard “ hello sweetie and turned around only to see a man whom everyone called Popeye. I smiled and went over to him gave him a hug and I said I’ve been gone 40 years and you knew who I was. Then every time I’d go into Tim’s for coffee I’d hear Hello Sweetie I didn’t have to look just the voice and I knew who it was lol. He could keep one attention when he’d tell a story and make one tummy hurt from laughing so much! Rest easy Greg ( Popeye )but know how much soo many people will miss you. Hugs to Sharon and her daughters

I am sorry to hear of Greg's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him for the last 37 years, both from work, and refereeing the old timers games in Sydney Mines. He would always poke me with the stick or try a gentle hook every time he would skate by me. To say he was competitive is an understatement. He scored 5 goals one Tuesday night in Sydney Mines, and said he just wanted to show the "young guys" he still had it!! Always a smile, a joke or a great story every time I had the honor of seeing him. He will certainly be missed, by all. My condolences and prayers go out to his entire family. He was certainly one of a kind!

My sincere condolences to Greg’s family. Popeye was one of the finest men I’ve ever met—kind, generous, and hilariously funny. He had an incredible gift for storytelling and could leave an entire room doubled over in laughter. I fondly remember the many scrums at Ocean Fuels, with Popeye holding court and everyone in stitches.
He was also my go-to guy whenever I needed carpentry work done—a true master craftsman who took immense pride in his work. Our community has lost a genuine character, and he will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Popeye.
