It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Jackie Woodland, on February 8, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 23, 1959, Jackie was the daughter of the late Herbie and Georgie (Steiger) Woodland.

Jackie was a woman with a wonderful personality and a heart of gold. Kind, loving, and always putting her family first, she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She spent the last few years working at Electric Candy, where she enjoyed meeting the children who came in, chatting with everyone who visited, and forming many lasting friendships.

Jackie is survived by her lifelong partner, Steve McGillivary; her sons who were her world, Blake (Kim) and Callan; her pride and joy, her granddaughter, Kelsey (Jayden); her nephews, Cyril (Jacqueline), Nygel (Dawn), and Moe; her niece, Chelsea (Shane); her special niece, Paisley; and many cousins, aunts and uncles, including her special uncle, Jimmy and special cousin, Donna.

She also shared a special bond with “the girls” - Sheri, Anna (Sweet-Pea), Georgia, Berna, and Evelyn - including her friends from the dollar store - as well as her co-workers from Electric Candy and best friends, Nate and Crystal, who meant so much to her.

Besides her parents and other family, Jackie was predeceased by her dearest brother, Herbie, and her loving sister, Barbara Anne.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial will be held in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the IWK or Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
