Kevin McLeod, Birch Grove Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family and friends sadly announce the passing of our dear husband, brother, step-father, Beepa, uncle, cousin and friend, Kevin McLeod, 73, who passed away peacefully February 18th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at the CBRH, Sydney.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, step-sons Billy (Stacey) and Jimmy (Shellyse) and was a proud Beepa to Avery and Jasper. He will be sadly missed by his sister Peggy Nauffts (Collingwood, Ont.) and many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family and friends who hold happy and fond memories of our dear Kevin.

Kevin grew up in Reserve Mines and was the youngest son of Joseph and Janette (Rennie) McLeod. He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean McDonald and Sheila Ryan and his brother Joe McLeod.

Prior to his retirement, Kevin was known an exceptionally skilled overhead crane operator and worked for Sydney Steel Corp. and N.S Power. His greatest joys in life were his country drives-to-nowhere with Marg; fishing, spending hours tinkering on cars but mostly spending time with the people who meant so much to him.

We would be amiss to remind everyone of how much of a big teddy bear he was with his huge heart and unconditional kindness. Those who knew him well will remember him for his unpredictable shenanigans, pranks, practical jokes and best sense of humor that was ever present right until his final hours.

We have comfort knowing that his side kick bloodhound, Riley, was waiting for him with sloppy dog kisses and wagging tail.

Kevin’s family extends grateful appreciation to his lifelong friends: Shelly, John and Brad who have always been so wonderful to him, especially over the past few years.

Additionally, we are ever so grateful to the staff at the Renal Dialysis Unit who Kevin considered his friends.  Thank you for all of your professional and tender loving care you gave to him over the years.

Thank you also to the staff of CBRH who helped him during his final journey home.

At Kevin’s request, in lieu of flowers, please kindly consider a donation to your local S.P.C.A. or a charity of choice.

“A gentle heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best”

We love you and will miss you so much.
