Barbara Ann “Barb” (McDougall) MacLeod, age 73 passed away on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Glace Bay, Barb was the daughter of Gloria (MacLeod) McDougall and the late Frank McDougall.

She was employed for many years as a caregiver with supportive living. Barb enjoyed travelling and playing Phase 10 with the girls on Friday night. She was a proud member of the Reserve Mines Pensioners Club.

She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Muriel) and Nathan MacLeod, grandchildren, Logan (Holly), Paige (Nathan), Noah (Alyssa), Elliott and a great granddaughter on the way.

Also surviving are Barb’s siblings, Brian, Mary, Jessie (Bill), Bradley (Debbie), Frances (Charles), Todd (Susan) and numerous, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She will be sadly missed by her lifelong friends, Sheila Johnson and Anne MacNeil.

Besides her father, Barb was predeceased by her husband, Howard MacLeod.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. in Glace Bay United Church (Formerly Warden United) with Lay Minister Martha MacDonald presiding.
