It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Francis “Paddy” Griffin, age 71, of River Ryan, on Friday, March 20th, 2026. 

Paddy was a Coal Miner for over 25 years and loved his time in the mine chatting with all of his fellow miners. 

Paddy loved reading the Cape Breton Post. He would always turn right to the Obituaries to get all the news on who kicked the bucket. Unfortunately he won't have a chance to read this one. 

He loved day drinking out in his barn (The Paddy Shack) and telling lots of old stories about him and his friends Earl, Whipper and Mickey.  He liked watching various TV shows and following the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

Paddy is survived by his two sons, Patrick (Tina), Troy (Dianne); grandchildren, Larissa (Kodiak) , Samantha, Max, Josh, Jorja, Braelyn, and Libby and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Clarence "Biffo"and Theresa (Byrnes) Griffin, he was also predeceased by his loving wife whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories with, Brenda Ann (Catoul) Griffin; brothers, John, Bino, and sisters, Theresa, Helen ,Carmel, and Mary. He is survived by his four brothers, Tony Tommy, Mike and Kenneth. 

We, the family, would also like to give a special thanks to Dana MacDonald and her son, David Angus, for being with our father during his final years and moments. 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 11a.m.until the time of the service at 1 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Rev. Joan Griffin officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
