Christine Annette Baxter-Joe, Port Caledonia Obituary

Christine Annette Baxter-Joe, age 55 of Port Caledonia passed away on Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.


Born in Glace Bay, Annette was the daughter of the late John Robert Sr. & Franklyn Ellen (Arbuckle) Baxter.


She was formerly employed at a daycare center as well as a call center. Annette was a very loving, kind and compassionate woman who enjoyed going to powwows and exploring different cultures. She was very artistic and enjoyed making clay ornaments, water painting, crocheting, swimming at Big Glace Bay Beach, playing cribbage, board games and going to karaoke’s. Annette was a former girl guide and Sunday school teacher at St. Luke’s United Church in Port Caledonia.


She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Joe, her sister, Kim Baxter-Driscoll, brother, Bobby Baxter, both of New Brunswick and several nieces and nephews.


Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Graveside prayers will be held at a later date in St. Luke’s United Cemetery, Port Caledonia.
