Patricia (Patsy) Roach, age 74, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. 

Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton on February 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Dorothy MacEachern.

Raised with resilience and family values, Patsy spent her adult life living in Sydney, Cape Breton with her loving partner, the late Greg Shaw. Patsy came from a big family consisting of many siblings; Gail, Terry, Marion (Peter), Josie, Rene (Chip), Kim (Ernie). She was  predeceased by sister, Murdena; brother, Jimmy and brothers-in-law, Donald Cox and Robert Hines. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she adored.

Patsy found joy in reading and scrolling through her Ipad. A true animal lover, she indulged in cat videos and adored her pets as they were her children. Her weekly treat would be her “two whopper Saturday", something she truly looked forward to. She was always very informed and up to date on world affairs as her love for the news was strong. In her younger years, she was an avid soccer player and attended Saint Agnes School.

There will be no visitation.Cremation has taken place. A funeral service to celebrate Patsy's life will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, with Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Agnes cemetery, New Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hope for Wildlife.
