It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Francis “Iggy” Dauphney, age 77 of New Waterford on Friday, June 5th, 2026 in New Waterford Hospital.

Born in New Waterford, David was the son of the late David John & Theresa (Corbett) Dauphney.

He was employed with Cape Breton Regional Housing for 38 years. David was a fun-loving guy with a great sense of humour. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and deeply enjoyed listening to music, especially George Jones.

David is survived by his partner of many years, Paula MacNeil, his daughter, Virginia McLeod (Michael), three sons, Stephen (Angela), Daniel (Chloe), Emmett, two sisters, Diane, Leeanna, six brothers, Glen, Donnie, Ross, Sheldon, Trevor, Blaine, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one special grandson, D.J. Dauphney.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his daughter, Tanya Dauphney as well as his siblings.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. There will be no services. Interment will take place in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery, Ingonish.
