Ronald Joseph Beaton of River Ryan passed away at home on June 25,2026 at the age of seventy-four.  Ron was born December 29,1951 in Scotchtown, Nova Scotia to Ronald and Katie (Topolniska) Beaton. 

He spent over thirty years as a teacher at Breton Education Centre and Glace Bay High School and served as Vice Principal at Saint Michael’s Elementary School. 

He was an active member of Saint Leonard’s Parish.  Ron enjoyed the outdoors, chess club, summer days, music, golf, traveling, reading and the Habs.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 

Ron is survived by his wife Mary (Power) Beaton, children Heather (Brad), Ronald (Julie) and Jennifer (Jeff), grandson Joseph, sisters Theresa and Anne Marie, aunt Irene and nephew John. 

Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Saturday, July 4 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery followed by a reception in the funeral home. Fr. Jim Oliver officiating.
