Earl MacInnis, Glace Bay Obituary

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Earl MacInnis, announce his passing on July 8, 2026.

Earl enjoyed spending time playing crib and darts with his many friends at the Glace Bay Legion, where he was a member for over 40 years. He was very proud to have been a member of Two Canadian Guards in Picton ON.  As a Guardsman, he participated in Expo ‘67, Changing of the Guard on Parliament Hill and the Tattoo along with two deployments overseas. Earl filled his day doing cryptogram and crossword puzzles, watching sports and old movies.

Earl is survived by his son, Darrell MacInnis (Diane); daughter, Catherine MacInnis; granddaughters, Madison Burke and Kayley MacInnis-Patterson; and his great-grandchildren, Alayah MacInnis and Rodney MacInnis-Downey; his sister, Cathy Power and brother, Darrell MacInnis (Elizabeth) as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his life partner, Pat Davis; parents, Neil and Effie Catherine (Wilson) MacInnis; as well as his brothers, Donnie MacInnis (Mary) and Wayne MacInnis (Hilda).

Earl will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

As per Earl’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online expressions of sympathy may be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
