It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister and aunt, April Marie Ryan, age 48 of New Waterford. April passed away on Saturday, August 1st, 2026 in Sydney.

Born in Sydney, April was a cherished daughter to Ann Ryan who cared for April the entire 48 years of her life.

April leaves behind a family that will miss her deeply, her mother Ann Ryan (Gouthro), her father, Jimmy Ryan, sisters, Dawn, Melissa (Adam), Jamie (Troy), her niece, Dominique "Precious" and nephew, Tanner " Wanner" and special uncle/godfather, John "Buttons" Ryan.

April found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She was a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and especially admired Cam Neely. She also cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs and her favorite player, Patrick Mahomes. She loved shopping, enjoyed camping on the Mira, and never outgrew her love for her favorite tv shows, Three's Company, Everybody Loves Raymond and Who's The Boss which always brought a smile to her face. In her younger years, April loved camping, swimming and being with her Mira family, especially her friend Robbie DeGiobbi. 

April really enjoyed shopping. She never missed a chance to buy a gift for any occasion whether it be for a new baby, Christmas or a birthday for anyone. April was also known for her great memory. She would never forget any dates, phone numbers or anniversaries.  A special thanks to New Waterford Home Care and VON for keeping her with us for as long as they could.

The funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, August 7th at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford followed by interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Fr.
