It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine T. Detienne, age 74, peacefully at home on August 10, 2026.

Catherine, lovingly known as Kay, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Jimmy Detienne, and her two sons, Jimmy (Maryann) and Chris, who lived at home with her.

She was a proud grandmother to her grandson, Matthew Muise, who brought great joy to her life.

Catherine will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Raymond and Angus (Diane); and her sisters, Karen (Orsen), Sharon (Robert), and Linda (Kirk), along with extended family and friends who were blessed to know her.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Neil and Theresa MacDonald.

Kay treasured nothing more than spending time with her family and her beloved fur babies, Cassie and Fluffy, and her pride and joy, Tessa, her fur angel. She especially enjoyed relaxing at home watching darts on television, a simple pleasure that brought her so much happiness.

Her kindness, love, and the memories she created with those around her will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 1 p.m. with Rev.
