It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved partner, father, son, brother and friend, Shannon Baptiste “Sheamus” Boutilier, age 52 of Gardiner Mines on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026 at his residence.

Born in Glace Bay to his mother Florence Gwen Cole, he spent his early childhood there before moving to Gardiner Mines where he settled and raised his family.

He is survived by his partner Priscilla Byrne, son Colton, who was his pride and joy, stepchildren, Cody and Breah, who held a special place in his heart, Colton’s best friend, Ty MacNeil and his girlfriend, Brook Currie, whom he treated like his own. Shannon is also survived by his mother, Florence Cole (Roy Anderson), brother, John and sister, Debbie.

Shannon was predeceased by his wife of nine years and mother of his son, Danette (Neary) Boutilier, who passed away in 2014. Following the passing of his wife, he met Priscilla where they shared their lives and blended their families.

Shannon had many jobs over the years, the most significant being his time working with Porky McMullin whom he greatly admired and most recently his time paving.

He will be greatly missed by his cats, Middy and Meow, affectionately known as his, “Big Black Panther Cat”, and his dog whom he lovingly named after his love for cars, “Monte”.

Shannon was a collector at heart, with a vast collection of guitars, model cars and any trinket he could find along his way. He was a very sentimental man, no object was too small to keep if it carried a memory of someone he loved.

He had taken his car collection a step further when he recently brought home a 1978 Monte Carlo, which he envisioned he and Colton would spend their time fixing up into their street car.

As an expression of sympathy for Shannon, memorial donations in his memory may be made to your local S.P.C.A.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A private burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Wallace Road, Glace Bay. Online condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
