LEFEUVRE, James (Jim) Stephen

New Waterford

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of James (Jim) Stephen LeFeuvre, age 65, announce his passing on May 19, 2018 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care with his loving family and friends by his side.

Jim will be lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Sandra (Springhall), his children, Jolie (Terry), Jaime (Aaron), Robbie (Andrea) and Jolie and Jaime`s mom, Gayle MacAskill.  His eight grandchildren Brandon, Riley, Sam, Zachary, Jackson, Parker, Clara and Graeme along with several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, whom he cherished, will also remember Jim.

Jim was born in St. Catharines, ON and was the son of the late Janet Savoy and is survived by his father ,Fred LeFeuvre,;  sister, Deby (Barry), Niagara Falls, brothers, Bill, St. Catharines and Darrell (Diane) Welland, ON.

Jim made lots of cherished and lasting friendships throughout his life during his career, which started at Stelco in Ontario and later moved to Cape Breton where he worked with his good friend at Sonny Jessome Backhoe Services and eventually with the CBRM until his retirement.

Jim was a proud Cape Bretoner who could be counted on for anything.  To know him was to love him; he inspired love and loyalty because he gave so freely of himself. Jim was bigger than life and truly knew the meaning of living in the moment and making the most of it.  He was a true entertainer, the life of the party and was at his happiest when spending time with his family and friends.  He was an avid Red Wings fan and enjoyed camping, diving, golfing, gardening, riding his Harley, sharing his knowledge, stories, laughs and tall tales in his garage, playing hockey with the boys and cheering on the screaming eagles with his buddies Kevin and Bernie.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 23 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home , 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday May 24 at 11 a.m. at Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating.  A luncheon will follow at St. Leonard’s Hall and then burial at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Thank you to Dr. Lowry and Gail and to the staff of the palliative care and cancer centre in Sydney and Halifax for the special care and understanding shown to Jim during his battle.   A special thank you to all the nurses at the chemotherapy centre (you all know who you are) and thanks for all the laughs when we so needed them.  We are very fortunate to have such an amazing team of specialists working in our area and Jim was grateful to each and every one for the help he received.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society, Sydney Cancer Centre or the charity of your choice.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.vjmcgillivray.ca
