It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of Genevieve Eileen MacGilivary, age 58 who lived on 86  Nolan’s lane.

Eileen died peacefully at the Glace Bay Hospital on Friday, June 15th at 10:10 pm. She left this world holding her loving mother’s hand and into the awaiting arms of our heavenly father.

Eileen was born July 3, 1959, the only daughter of Genevieve (Tootsie) Barron and the late James MacGillivary.

Eileen was a kind and loving person, very compassionate and thankful, loved to sing and dance and play the organ. She loved her pull tab tickets and her taped music. She enjoyed socializing at the C.A.P.E. every day and was especially fond of Tammy Ford. Eileen could often be heard singing for the home care workers and the V.O.N that came to her home to care for her. She could make anyone laugh and liked to joke with everyone. Loved by all, she will be missed.

Left to mourn her loss are her mother, Genevieve (Tootsie) MacGillivary; aunts, Alice T. Ryan, Mary (Mollie) Moffatt and Cecelia MacGillivary Bennet; uncles, Mike Barron (Alma) , B.C., Ralph, and Jerry (Lorraine), Glace Bay; one nephew, Johnny MacGillivary, Glace Bay and numerous cousins.

Besides her father Jimmy, she was predeceased by her only brother, Johnny (1999); paternal grandparents, Charles and Catherine MacGillivary and maternal grandparents, Frank and Catherine Barron.

Visitation for the late Genevieve Eileen MacGillivary will be held Wednesday, Jun 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in V.J. McGillivray funeral Home, 16 Reserve street, Glace Bay.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 21 in St. Anne’s Church at 1pm with Fr. Anthony O’Connor officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Wallace’s Road.

A heartfelt thank you, to Dr. James MacLean and all the nurses and doctors who helped Eileen during her Illness. We would also like to send a thank you to the New Waterford Home Care and the V.O.N.
