Obituary of Clyde Dean, Glace Bay

We the family wish to announce the untimely passing of a beloved husband, father, brother and son, Clyde Edmund Dean, age 62. Clyde passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 with his loving wife of 43 years (Nancy) by his side after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, he is the son of Evelyn (Brufatto) Dean and the late John “Jack” Dean. In Clyde’s younger years, he worked as a Financial Advisor for Freedom 55 for 27 years. In the past 16 years Clyde was the Owner / Operator of Clyde Dean Construction Ltd. where he was lucky enough to work beside his two sons. In Clyde’s spare time you could often find him enjoying a game of pool, playing darts at Jigger’s Lounge or the Caledonia Club, on a golf course or playing hockey. He loved spending time with his family and friends, or he could also be found at home playing his guitar or watching his favorite hockey team, The Toronto Maple Leafs. Clyde’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family for which he was very proud of. He is survived by his spouse, Nancy Dean (MacDonald), sons, Jeff (Amanda Worthington), Ryan (Shalene Almon) and Jordan, brothers, Stephen (Cindy) Dean, Derrick (Gloria) Dean, sister, Marion (Kevin) MacDougall, brothers-in-law, Jack (Rose) MacDonald, Wesley Penney, grandchildren, Matthew, Aleigha, Mackenzie, Abbey, Ethan, Keagan and numerous nieces and nephews. Clyde was predeceased by his father-in-law, Donald (Jeff) MacDonald, mother-in-law, Margaret (Penney) MacDonald and his sister-in-law, Trish Penney. Clyde will be greatly missed by his many close friends from the nights spent in Benji’s Barn. The Family would like to thank the staff at the Cancer Center, Palliative Care, VON and Dr. Moamer for the exceptional care shown to Clyde over the past two years. Cremation has taken place. The visitation is Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 from 1PM to 3:30 PM followed by a funeral service at 4 PM, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
